Falling For...

When October begins I am ready:  the house gets spooky, the candy gets bought, the kids get costumed and we look forward to trick or treating in our awesome neighborhood.  And it is over in a flash.  Reduced to yesterday and last month all in a matter of hours.
The party's over, the decorations are boxed up until next October, the costumes washed, and the porch simplified with unadorned pumpkins.
Halloween, as fun as it is with kids, is the easiest holiday to pack away, be done with, and transition from.  I think we are all relieved.  So, welcome, November.
The month that is unabashedly fall...
full on leaf dropping, tree undressing, shortning days and cooling air.
The month that allows for breath taking nature displays on walks,
sipping warm mugs while bundled up outside,
and wrapping up in blankets in front of a crackling fire.
 The month of huge leaves,
and raking up piles just made for
 jumping!
A few days ago, October 29 at 8:19 in the morning, my nephew Hudson Michael made his entry into this world, this fall, on the day of the super storm on the east coast, making it more alive for those who love him...
whom among some of his greatest fans are these characters, his cousins: Finn the puppy, Haden the zombie and Liam aka Boba Fett (Star Wars)...
and a soon to be mega-fan, stinky Rudy the dog cousin.
So, among the things I am already thankful for this month of thanks giving is for the safe and healthy birth of baby Hudson, the recovery from bedrest and c-section of his mommy, my little sister, Angela, and his daddy Mike, for sharing him so much already!
Praying for those affected by the Super Storm Sandy, including Baby Hudson's Nana and Grandpa and all of their family and friends in New Jersey and the East Coast.
May we all find things to be thankful for these next weeks...
